The Museum’s Art Gallery is one of the richest permanent art exhibitions not only locally but also nationwide. It showcases Hungarian masterpieces from the baroque to secession eras.

The list of represented artists speaks for itself: Ádám Mányoki, Miklós Barabás, Gyula Benczúr, Károly Lotz or Mihály Munkácsy, just to name a few. However we should not forget about the outstanding works of László Paál, Pál Szinyei Merse, Lajos Gulácsy, Tivadar Csontváry Kosztka and József Rippl-Rónai either.

The Art Gallery invites its visitors to an exciting adventure through time and art history, during which 200 years’ worth of Hungarian fine art passes before the audience’s very eyes. It is important to note that this is accomplished via works of art that are in the forefront of local art history research interest and are often representing the city of Miskolc in the most prominent national and foreign exhibitions.

Gallery Narration

Experts who took the audio-narration course, a joint project between the Equal Opportunities of Persons with Disabilities Non-profit Ltd. (FSZK) and the University of Theatre and Film Arts (SZFE), successfully graduated in February 2015. Now as certified audio-narrators they will aid visually impaired children and adults with their work in many areas of life in the future – education, culture, public events – in order to make equal opportunity accessibility a reality. Their work can be beneficial at theatre plays, exhibitions and other cultural or sport events, allowing better understanding of visual messages and content for visually impaired participants.
