The Herman Ottó Plaque

The Herman Ottó Plaque is an award that was created by the legal predecessor of the Herman Ottó Museum, the Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County Museum Directorate in 1990. The award is given by the director of the museum during a major event, holiday or special occasion, based on the proposal of the Management Board.

The Herman Ottó Plaque is a lifetime achievement award: it is given to colleagues, museum organizational units or external supporters, professional partners and institutions who showcased an outstanding display of representation and enrichment of the professional, social and scientific values deemed important by the museum for several decades.

The award is a bronze plaque with a diameter of 9.5 millimetres and a thickness of 6 millimetres. It was designed and made by sculptor Antal Borsi. The plaque features the portrait of Ottó Herman on the front and the Papszer museum building on the back.
